Grave Mercy

Last year I did a rough cover illustration for Robin Lafevers' book Grave Mercy. It didn't make the cover, but I had fun doing it. The book is pretty good too. It's about assassins raised in a sketchy convent. Lots of political intrigue and sneaking about. The covergirl here is Ismae. I hear the second book, Dark Triumph is coming out soon, starring another assassin named Sybella.

    1. Thanks, Kate.

Btw, great rendering on your creatures. Your work reminds me of a strange brew of Terryl Whitlatch and Wayne Barlowe. :)

  4. I went and looked up what the final cover ended up being and it's a photo. Seriously? They picked a photo over this? Life is unfair D:

    1. Yeah, that's just YA nowadays. Gone are the days when illustrated covers were the norm. :(
