Grave Mercy
Last year I did a rough cover illustration for Robin Lafevers' book Grave
Mercy. It didn't make the cover, but I had fun doing it. The book is
pretty good too. It's about assassins raised in a sketchy convent. Lots
of political intrigue and sneaking about. The covergirl here is Ismae. I hear the second book, Dark Triumph is coming
out soon, starring another assassin named Sybella.

Infected by Art
Hi everyone! I entered another contest. This time I have multiple entries that I'm asking you all to vote for. Help a fella out @:
https://www.infectedbyart.com/entries/622#.UNVOzXcYstU
Here are the pieces I entered. They're all old. I'm surprised that of all the art I've made there are so few I still like and I couldn't help but make tweaks to most of them. Let me know if I made em better or worse if you have the time or inclination. Tell your friends to vote and Happy Holidays!

Stolen Art
You gotta love how companies just decide to steal art and not bother letting the artist know they just worked for free.
How about some love OVIP mobile (inc.) ?

Early D3 Barbarian models
Found these while transferring old data to my new comp. These are the first iterations of the male and female Barbs. The male went through several iterations before they settled on the current in-game appearance. The last pic is the first pass on the female Barb's default state before they changed her face. I made her a biiiiiit too buff also, so on the 2nd pass I toned that down a bit. These pics are from 2006.

Curse of the Everliving
A few months ago I got to do a bit of work for Games Workshop on a Warhammer Fantasy audiobook about Gotrek & Felix! I hope I get to do more. I could happily paint Space Marines and Chaos Knights all day. I think I still get too saturated though. Need to dial that back.

Diablo 3 Barbarian talking head!
Those of you with keen memories will remember that D3 briefly experimented with having 3d character portraits during dialogs à la SC2. The Barb and Deckard Cain were the only test subjects. Paul David made Deckard, while I made the Barb. There's a bit of Randy Couture and Bruce Willis DNA in there...

Secret Ponchos
Secret Ponchos has been announced! This is the game I've contributed art to for the last few years for my friend Yousuf Mapara's little startup in Vancouver, B.C., Switchblade Monkeys. Jose Lopez and Daryl Mandryk are also big contributors. Keep an eye out for further SP posts and a cool trailer.

Sneak Peak
This is a teaser image from a super cool Indie game I've been contributing art to for the last few years. A buddy of mine has been designing this game up in Vancouver with a ragtag group of scrappy ninja fighters and will be unveiling it this month sometime around the San Diego Comic Con. More to come!
Homage?
While perusing through CG Hub today...Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right? I think it's kind of neat actually to think that someone was inspired by my stuff like this. I really like the improved color palette and composition Xiaosa chose, but at least change the obvious design elements and maybe shoot me some credit. I made the Ranger concept art for Diablo 3 in 2005.
Xiaosa's CG Hub
I actually began updating it back in 2009, but put it aside and haven't done anything with it since.

Imagine FX process tutorial
So this is my first stab at a tutorial. Heroic Guy. Nothing like taking a moment to look at your work critically and realize it's all bunk. Also, it's getting weird that all I paint are naked barbarians in the snow. Next one will be different! Tut should be up sometime next month, but here is the link:

Stuff from the Diablo 3 Art Book
Barbarian vs Ranger PVP
This is the first scene I ever painted, as in, not just a dude standing there with a foggy background. There are so many things in here I see that need repainting/correcting but I'll resist. Those of you with the collectors Edition would have seen it in the hero section of the Art Book. That's the thing about Blizzard; stuff you work on is kept in a secret vault for around 5 years give or take, and then BAM! Funsplosion happens all up in your face.
Also, here are a few older Barb concepts I never got around to posting. These have been floating around the internets for awhile.
And finally the models I made for the 2nd round of D3 Goatmen. This
was when we were still in our gritty phase before the rainbows and shit
hit the public fan. Ahh, good times.
